Welcome to the life of Zack and Nicki! I now feel like an official engaged gal because I get to start a blog about new lives together. How exciting!!
Anyway a little bit of background about Zack and I first. Back in May is when we met thanks to my wonderful cousin Justin and his wife Lindsay. They called me randomly on a Saturday night asking if I wanted to go a double date with them and their friend Zack. I almost said no because I was in Salt Lake having dinner with my family. Luckily I said yes and this is where it all began. At first we didnt think much of dating each other more or less just hang out buddies but the more and more time we spent with each other the more and more I began to like him. Then before I knew it he started liking me too. We then started truly dating each other. However I tried to break it off because I had a missionary that I had been waiting for and still wanted to give him a shot. Zack wouldnt let me go that easily though. So we went back to dating pretty seriously. Then back in January I told him that I was going to serve a mission. It was quite a shock to him because little did I know he was going to propose to me later that week. (what was I thinking) So a couple months goes by, I get my mission call to Seoul, Korea and leave in June. Next came my spring break and I left for Virgina to visit my sister. This was 9 whole days that we were separated. (the longest time we have been away from each other since we started dating). This was an eye opener for the both of us! If we could barely make 9 days work how in the world were we going to make 18 months work. Zack had told me he bought a ring and was ready to propose. I however said I was still going to go on my mission, and to return the ring. That was the end of our marriage discussions. And now for the proposal story!
March 26th It was a Saturday and I had been working all day. Zack had asked me if I wanted to take a drive with him that night. Sure I said but was a little nervous into why. I kept asking him questions like, are you going to break up with me, are you a dad, do you have cancer, all kinds of questions. I even asked if he was going to propose, but he told me no because he had taken the ring back. Finally I get off and head home. When I get home there was a dozen roses with 3 bags of my favorite candy. Whoa I sure do have a sweet man I thought to myself. So then Zack came to pick me up and we start driving. However he turns to me and says oh wait I need to blind fold you....
Me: "ummm ok... why??"
Zack: "Just because this is surprise."
You would think I would catch on to something but I figured nothing was going to happen because he took the ring back and I thought he was pretty set on me leaving. Anyway moving on, so back in December we went up to the Hoggle Zoo and looked at lights and then drove up that canyon and made snow angels. It was kind of romantic and just random. So he drove back to that spot and lead me to the where we had made snow angels. (by this time I was so car sick I felt like throwing up every where) and then he knelt down (in the wet snow) and asked me to marry him!
I was speechless, shocked, surprised, oh and SO HAPPY!! I of course said yes! Well actually I said "probably".
Zack picked out the ring all by himself with no help from me, or any other girl. I must say he did an outstanding job. Its the most gorgeous thing ever! (Pictures soon to come) We have to get it resized because it is a little to big.
Well there you have it! A little short story on the lives of Zack and Nicki! We are planning to tie the knot August 12th 2011.
Hope you enjoy follow our next couple adventures!

ReplyDeleteHahaha you said probably!! I love it. It's better than not saying anything. I just stared at Elliott with my jaw dropped for a while in shock, and he was all... "are you going to say yes??" and then in the car later he was all " you said yes, right?
